Adapting Ancient Rewards for the Digital Age
Posted by Philip on June 20, 2024 at 8:17 pmWhat ancient civilization had the best equivalent of a loyalty program, and how can we modernize it for today’s e-market?

Christianity for sure. In exchange for belief, you get into Heaven! What could be better/easier than that?! PISR has already modernized this for the e-market, too. We sell Tickets to Heaven! And it’s even easier to get into Heaven with PISR than it was with that old-fashioned religion called Christianity. Instead of believing in something for your whole life, you can just pay PISR $11.11! We also sell tickets to Purgatory and Hell. Roman Empire, particularly during the time of “bread and circuses” (panem et circenses).
This system provided free grain and entertainment to Roman citizens, with the goal of keeping the populace satisfied and loyal to the emperor and the state.
“Bread”: Offer more services for free to loyal customers. It isn’t always about the money, especially educational materials. America’s dumbing down is real. Give the people something to fill their heads with besides drivel.
“Circuses”: Less pay to view. More free-to-learn gamification. Let people pay to blow up heads. Give more educational games for free. Real educational games that actually teach.

Catholics used to sell indulgences as a sort of entry way into heaven. Kind of counts if you’re a terrible person with money. The more you sin, the more you buy, the more saintly you are.

Ahh, perhaps we should offer discounts for multiple tickets to Heaven so people can buy a ton and show off how saintly they are! Bring back indulgences!!!
