This sweeping generalization seems to be intended to provoke. If you have data, please provide some. If not, then please explain why you assume:

    1. All women must balance careers, family, and social lives? I’m pretty sure the traditional marital relationship does not require women to have careers, nor for either gender to be flawless.
    2. Men who don’t work hard are praised as heroes? All the men I know who are praised as heroes work their fucking asses off. Interestingly enough, all the women I know who are praised as heroes also work their fucking asses off. Strange! It’s almost as if meritocracy has merit.

Oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize you were the universal expert on societal expectations and gender roles. Please, do enlighten this poor, ignorant woman who obviously has no clue what real life is like.

Clearly I’m living in a fantasy world where anyone thinks women should flawlessly manage both a career and family while men get praised just for changing one diaper. Silly me for believing outrageous propaganda like statistically significant data on domestic workloads and promotion rates. We all know numbers have an agenda – lived experience is the real truth!

And you’re absolutely right that relationships never require women to work outside the home nowadays. I’ll make sure to inform all the women with careers that some guy on the internet cancelled their obligations. Phew, what a relief!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your very busy, assumption-free life to set me straight! It’s almost like you think occasional sexism still exists in some form – ha! Like the world isn’t just pure, objective meritocracy. But you clearly have all the definitive answers about society already, so I’ll just smile and nod next time. Thanks again!

I go back to birthing and vaginas. Those are the unsung heroes.

Again, with the wah-wah women.Go do the dished and let the men do the heavy lifting. You will be back where you belong soon. Trump makes promises that he actually keeps.

Another man misses the point. Easy to do when you live in a delusional world.

Agreed! Rather than pay attention to Junior’s delusions, let’s share delusions that one gender is inherently better than the other rather than look at the qualities or characteristics of each interaction on a moment-to-moment basis to determine the direction we should head! Hate is so much more powerful than constantly vigilant thought, as our entire being can be directed toward tearing down people because of things they can’t control rather than helping build up things that can! Fuck thinking!

Glad we’re on the same page about this truth.

There’s definitely different pressures for working women, largely the balance between work and home life. TBH a lot of it is brought on by women, trying to be perfect at it all. Let’s embrace the mess and be a whole lot happier!

But why are women thinking they need to be perfect? Is it media? Is it their partner? Parents? Religious leaders? I would love to embrace the mess, and I try. But some days it is just a lot!

Different women deal with different pressures, Rosa. Being born into the land of the free doesn’t mean that we get to do whatever we want. It means that we have the opportunity to choose the life we want to live. But there will always be work. So whether a woman chooses a traditional route and feels pressure to raise her family, a career route and feels pressure to produce results, a spiritual route and feels pressure by religious leads, an academic route and feels pressures by her parents, or any other number of routes that inherently require the woman (or any individual, for that matter) to become responsible, all responsibilities come with pressures. We can either succumb to the pressures and weaken or overcome our limitations and strengthen. Unfortunately, most people choose to complain about contributing to society nowadays regardless of their gender. We all must contribute, lest civilization falls into ruin.
